How do security deposits work?
Authorized at booking, captured at check-in, refunded at check-out.
Some owners require a refundable security deposit. The amount is shown on the listing page (e.g. $50).
When you book, Stripe authorizes the rental fee + deposit on your card. The full amount is captured on check-in. When check-out is confirmed by both parties, the deposit refunds to your card automatically — usually 3-5 business days.
If the item comes back damaged or with missing parts, the owner can file a dispute and request that some or all of the deposit be retained to cover it. Our team reviews the photos and notes from both parties before deciding.
Deposits are not the platform's money — they pass through Stripe and are refunded back to your card directly.
